Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the player with most amount of goal assists (6) in this year's competition. PSG have the best defensive record conceeding only three goals.
FC Porto: Two-time winners FC Porto qualified as Group A runners-up with four wins, one draw and one loss. Their most recent Champions League title was in 2003/2004 with coach Jose Mourinho.
FC Schalke 04: Group B winners Schalke head to the Knock-out phase of the Champions League without defeat. They managed to qualify ahead of Arsenal also beating them 2-0 on Matchday 3.
Arsenal FC: With three wins, one draw and two losses, Arsenal qualified second, scoring same amount of goals (10) as group winners Schalke. Had they have won their final game against Olympiacos they would have taken top spot away from Schalke.
Malaga topped Group C, ahead of AC Milan with three wins and three draws. Malaga have not lost in any home games. This is a very good record to head into the final 16 with.
AC Milan, Group C runners-up and seven time Champions League winners managed two wins, two draws and two losses. This is a very average performance from the italian giants which will definately need improvement or a new signing this January if they are to add to their titles.
Borussia Dortmund, the German Bundesliga and cup champions came through as Group D winners, ahead of Real Madrid, Ajax and English Premier League Champions, Manchester City. Their ability to play against europe's heavyweights will prove an advantage leading int the tournament's knock out stages.
Real Madrid, Spanish Champions Real Madrid are winners of 9 Champions League titles. Their attacking superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has most amount of goals (6) and shots on target (27) in the competition. Real Madrid have scored a total of fifteen goals, shared across seven different goal-scorers.
Juventus, Italian Serie A Champions have qualified as Group E winners. They have two Champions league trophies in their cabinet as they search for their third.Juventus may also be looking to strengthen their squad with a new signing this January. Whilst defeating title holders Chelsea 3-0 on matchday 5, they look like a real contender for this seasons title.
Shakhtar, the Ukrainian Champions finish the group stage as runners-up ahead of Chelsea. Although both teams finished on 10 points Shakhtar go through on the head to head rule.
FC Bayern Munchen, last years Champions League runners up started their campaign strongly with four wins, one draw and one loss. Bayern Munchen go through as winners of Group F as they look to add to their 4 Champions league titles.
Valencia CF go through to the last 16 knock out phase with equal amount of points (13) as Bayern Munchen. Valencia also managed four wins, one draw and one loss. They scored twelve goals and conceeded just five.
FC Barcelona is the team left in the competition with the most recent Champions League titles. Their two most recent titles were in 2009 and 2011. They boast the number one ranking in UEFA and are statistically the team with the most amount of ball possession. Barcelona have three-time FIFA world player of the year, Lionel Messi to their advantage.Recently Lionel Messi has broken the record for "most goals scored in a calendar year".
Celtic FC won the Champions League in 1967. They qualified to the knockout stage with three wins, one draw and two losses. Celtic prove to be a dangerous opponent as they provided the upset of the tournament beating Barcelona 2-1 on Matchday 4.
Manchester United FC have won three Champions League titles. Their most recent was when they won in 2008 however they lost in the 2009 final against Barcelona. Man Utd had already qualified on matchday 4 and could afford to field a young squad in their last two games. This resulted in two losses.
Galatasaray AS follow Manchester United to the Knock-out phase with three wins, one draw and two losses. Their most notable result was their 1-0 win at home against Group H winners Man Utd. with Galatasaray winning their final three games they finished the group stage with great form.
Prediction
If you have a look at the competitions history or at least the previous five seasons you will notice a pattern. This pattern revolves around FC Barcelona. Barcelona won in 2008 and 2011; However the teams who defeated Barcelona in the semi-finals in 2007, 2009 and 2012 were the evential winners.
So my prediction is: If Barcelona do not reach and win the finals, then the evential winners will be the team which eliminates them.
Nice text.. Go GUNS ! Arsenal !
